Participation Agreement, Waiver & Release
Version 2027.1 · covers every 2027 ruck · signed once at RSVP
Electronic signature
You sign this agreement electronically when you check the box on the RSVP form. Your typed name, the agreement version and the date are recorded, and that single signature covers every Meet Me On The Trail ruck for the 2027 season — you never have to sign again unless a new version is issued.
What I am joining
Meet Me On The Trail is a free Christian men's Connect Group that hikes and rucks DFW-area trails. It is not a commercial guide service, outfitter, paid fitness program or medical provider. No fee is charged, no professional supervision is provided, and organizers are volunteers, not guides, medics or trainers.
Assumption of risk
I understand hiking with carried weight involves inherent and unavoidable risks: uneven or slick terrain, elevation change, rocks, roots, water crossings, heat, cold, lightning, wildlife including snakes and insects, contact with plants, equipment failure, exhaustion, dehydration, heat illness, sprains, fractures, cardiac events, permanent disability and death. I also accept risks of travel to and from trailheads and the acts or omissions of other participants. I voluntarily assume all of these risks, known and unknown.
Fitness and medical representation
I confirm I am physically able to participate, that I have consulted a physician if I have any condition that could be aggravated by strenuous activity, and that I carry any personal medication I may need. I am solely responsible for choosing a carried weight, pace and distance appropriate to my current ability, and for stopping when I should stop.
My responsibilities on trail
I will bring my own water, footwear and appropriate clothing; follow all park rules, posted signage and direction from park authorities and organizers; stay on marked trails; leave no trace; and notify an organizer before leaving the group. I will not participate under the influence of alcohol or impairing substances.
Release and waiver of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by Texas law, I release, waive and discharge Meet Me On The Trail, Elevate Life Church, their organizers, leaders, volunteers, sponsors and affiliates from any and all claims, demands, causes of action, damages, losses, costs and expenses of any kind arising out of or related to my participation, including claims based on ordinary negligence. This release does not apply to gross negligence or willful misconduct.
Indemnification
I agree to indemnify and hold harmless the released parties from any claim brought by me or on my behalf, including by family members or my estate, arising out of my participation.
Emergency medical care
In an emergency, I authorize organizers to summon emergency medical services on my behalf and I accept responsibility for the cost of any treatment or transport. I confirm the emergency contact I provided may be contacted about me.
Photo and story release
I grant permission for photos, video and written recaps taken during group rucks to be used by Meet Me On The Trail and Elevate Life Church for ministry, recap pages and social media, without compensation. I may ask an organizer to remove an image of me at any time.
Conduct and minors
This is a men's group built on respect: nobody gets left behind and nobody has to prove anything. Conduct that endangers, harasses or demeans others ends participation. Participants must be 18 or older; a minor may attend only with a parent or legal guardian present who signs on his behalf.
Weather, changes and cancellation
Trails may close after rain and any ruck may be shortened, relocated, postponed or cancelled for safety. Notifications go out to registered men by email and, if opted in, text.
Term of this agreement
This agreement is signed once and applies to every Meet Me On The Trail ruck, hike or group activity I attend during the 2027 season and until a new version is issued. I may withdraw it at any time by emailing the organizers, which also ends my participation.
Governing law and severability
This agreement is governed by the laws of the State of Texas, with venue in Dallas County. If any provision is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions stay in full effect. I have read this agreement, I understand it, and I sign it freely.
